Zirkus Charles Knie

We’re young, the tickets were free, we attended the circus.

The most amazing thing was witnessing our 18 month old sitting still for almost 4 hours, with only a short pause to go see the animals in between. It was the circus’s pause, not Mateo’s.

About the circus?
Oh!
I guess I could write about it…
Before one enters the main tent, one enters the first tent (after one has presented one’s tickets at the gate). In the first tent was a small café, a stand to buy fairy floss, another stand to buy popcorn, a small restaurant selling fried food and then a stand for drinks. Mateo had the chance to try fairy floss and seemed to enjoy it. We bought some hot chips, or fries, I can’t quite remember the thickness of the cut of potato and some drinks.
The show wasn’t packed out with people, possibly a little over half full. Sometimes that’s nice for the spectators, allowing a little space to relax.
There were animals; camels, horses and a kangaroo, they all performed for a short time. There was the clown, who had some entertaining skits, mostly trying to involve the audience. I’m always skeptical about whether the people chosen are “plants” of not, sometimes it is obvious, other times… less so. The acrobats were very talented and I felt the length was just about correct, with them leaving before the act got a bit boring. Actually, the rhythm of the circus was really quite good, nobody overstayed their welcome.
After the pause, the “big” acts came out.
They had motorbikes in one of those ‘spheres of death’. Later, the lions and tigers were brought out and they sat up like puppies. The ventriloquist had everybody laughing with a bit of audience participation. During the final “Hurrah!”, we snuck out. Mateo was exhausted and we knew that we’d beat the crowd. Advantages were huge!
